Fabulous Friday Finds

Got myself of to the local today and scored a few things

Had to take this vintage dress, even though it seems a little on the large side.

Thought it would look cool with boots and belt in winter.

All else fails,it's nice fabric

Also got a bunch of straw hats(turning them into bonnets) and a prairie dress for the schools upcoming Q150 celebrations & under 8's day at Ormiston House on Thursday.

Bet you can't wait for those photo's

Sucked In

I have a thing for seersucker, just screams retro to me.

Which takes me to what I have been up too today
After being inspired by my PRINT book,by Cath Kidston, I took on the challenge to design an A frame skirt.

And this is what I came back with....

Then along came Holly, which goes well with the 'I Heart Holly' singlet

So stay tuned for more designs coming soon or come and check em' out at the YDM next Sunday.

After being so busy leading up to the Ladies Market Night last week I forgot to introduce you to my Bubba Bushka's. I was lucky to get a panel of these pretty girls from Justine, of Mixtape, after signing up to the zine. Issue 9 is just out and I can't wait to get it in the mail soon.

I am thinking maybe summer sleep ware set with matching pants.

This little piggy has been to market

Well A Ladies Night Out to be more precise.

So you can stop holding your breath. Waiting for my next post.

Wondering where I 've been ? As all you crafty market types know exactly where I been. Neck deep in material trying to churn out product. You know the days when you get nothing done but package, organise, make and organise a little more, only to leave the house without the coat hangers! Lucky my sister in law only lives around the corner.

Well the market wasn't that happening, but one good thing, it's got me back into the swing of things for the up and coming YDM at Southbank. Mental note(remember the coat hangers & hole puncher)

p.s only 2 more posts til Mygirls 100TH POST AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS(giveaway time)

The Boutique Market has a New Place to Call Home

It's official..... our new marketplace has arrived!

"A unique shopping experience featuring some of the best local talent in art, craft and design located in one of Brisbane's premier riverfront dining and shopping precincts!"The Boutique Markets (formerly known as the Designers Emporium) has recently found a new home at Portside Wharf in Hamilton, Brisbane. Since its inception in 2007 our market has grown in profile and size to become a hub of local creative talent which offers a unique shopping experience; boutique shopping in a market atmosphere. Our expanded market will now be located in the exclusive riverfront shopping and dining precinct of Portside on the second Sunday of each month, between 8am and 1pm.Proudly supporting local independent design and craft, our market will host the work of more than fifty South East QLD -based stallholders including artists, designers, stylists, crafters and artisans. The market aims to promote and cultivate emerging local talent by offering a forum to promote and sell their work to the public. This in turn offers design savvy shoppers unique access to high quality handmade and limited edition products not available elsewhere, direct from the region's thriving art and design community. As a locality Portside offers a great day out with an array of waterfront eateries, bars, cinemas, fresh food markets and retail shopping in addition to a first class international cruise terminal. The Boutique Markets offers a perfect compliment to the venue; it creates a festival style ambiance in the outdoor plaza. Spend the day meandering between stalls and stroll the waterfront promenade before enjoying lunch in one of the many restaurants or cafes. The new Boutique Markets website and our new blog offers a portal to keep up to date on market events or to discover the stallholders which will be featured there. Be first in the know by signing up to our newsletter and stay tuned for some exciting special events and attractions which will coincide with the market day in coming months!Interested in applying to retail - be quick, spaces are limited.

I will keep you posted

Order up!

Today I was so fortunate to be at home on a Friday, yay! I love Fridays. I was so excited to start my housework(as sick as that sounds) and getting some sewing done, that I totally forgot to go to the aged care garage sale,I was half way through the housework when I remembered, I just could'nt stop and loose momentum.

Oh well will have to call in on the way to work next week, hopefully will bag double the bounty.

One thing I did get round to finishing was Bunting for my friend Gretchen. Gretchen lives on Straddie and her mum loves lighthouses and has a collection going. So when she saw my 'Land Ahoy" Bunting she couldn't resist ordering for her mumma.

We did a swapsy for some yummy Coconut Mackerel. A favourite amongst the island locals. She's definitely got me hooked:)

Our Boy

I got some sad news last night from my mum in-law that our Staffy Stelph had passed away yesterday while they were at work. Stelphy moved to the farm with Nate's mum & dad a few years back now when we moved back to Ormiston. And being that my dad already had two dogs here, it broke our heart to send him to live at the farm, after all he was Nate's only boy in the house. But by law and the fact the the other two wouldn't be happy. We knew he was in good hands and had lots of room.
We got Stelph way back when Ursula was a baby.
We were at a friends BBQ and someone mentioned this pup that had been neglected. Nate said he always wanted a Staffy, I coming from having big dogs all my life was not keen on the idea (aren't they vicious dogs anyway) and being that we were living at his mum & dads old house at the time,I wasn't liking his chances. But in the ended everyone came round.
And we are all glad we did,he turned out to be the most loyal, gentle, loving dog you could ever have.
He loved going to the beach or just hanging with the kids throwing the ball and going for a swim the dam(wasn't a very good swimmer, but he thought he was) He was so gentle with them. And it was interesting going to parks with them and seeing that same stereotypical view of Staffy's, that I once had, seen in other people with their kids. Then I would give them the big run down of how great they actually are with kids.
We had some close calls with losing him, allergic reactions, been stolen, drowning, but I will never forget the day when the German Shepard two doors down bit his tongue through the wire fence and left him with a very crooked tongue. It did become part of his character.
You are going to be missed Stelph, you're happy face when we came to visit, waiting at the gate.
RIP YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, BUDDY
