Modern Day Sleigh

My car is stacked to the roof and ready to deliver all these presents to the farm. But need to get those kids off the premises first

And no they are not all for my girls

This year we are so lucky to be spending the day with all the cousins, yay!!!

And yes that is a car in my car

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE,ENJOY THIS TIME WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES XXOO

I Heart Cockies

Not the horrible disgusting ones that seem to be everywhere at this time of the year.

But these cute birdies

This little guy came to visit me this morning

He took a liking to our Macadamia tree, that hangs over the veranda, making a racket on our corrugated roof

I love the way they look at you when you talk to them in a high,"hello Cocky" as if to say my names not Cocky!

We had one as a pet when we were kids, his name was Joey, and he talked back to us

Have to work on this one if he comes back

The Girls are Getting Excited

When I say the girls, I don't mean my girls, I mean these girls,

why are they excited you say.....

Because these girls are about to embark on an adventure of the high seas.
Well Moreton Bay. To The Straddie Markets.
I have been busy (trying) to sew and prepare for my up coming markets on the Island over Xmas and The New Year. We are very Excited at My Girl because it's been a while since we've stepped out the comfort zone of Lyssymays.
The new cards with the new my girl logo have arrived and we are on the move. So watch this space.......
p.s You might have gathered by now I have a new camera:) sooooo good to be back sharing my sewing news wit ya all

Roses for Nana Joyce

Roses were one of Nana Joyce's favourite flowers. She has glorious ones in her garden. Sometimes up six flowering at once on the same stem. So I was very surprised when my very beautiful, thoughtful friend Wendy delivered them to me this morning over a cuppa tea. Even though it must have been 50 degrees it was so nice to sit and chat over a cuppa on the veranda.

It's been a sad year watching my full of life Nana slowly and painfully be deflated from this horrible disease we call cancer. But she never gave up, god bless her, whenever she was served a knock she'd bounce back and be ready to get home, quickly, she hated being in hospital. Although we all knew each time it wouldn't be long til she'd be back there.

She passed away at 5:15 pm on Tuesday 9 th of December 2008

I have spent the week thinking back on memories of my Nana, and there is one memory I have of her giving my cousin and I a little sewing machine at Christmas(we would get matching gifts every year) and like to think maybe it's that gift she gave me that inspires me to sew, or the fact that she sat up most night helping her then husband met deadlines, tailoring suits for Brisbane's Police Detectives in the 60's . If not I still like to think she had some influence on my sewing big or small. She is going to be missed. RIP.

Bushka Bushka Bushka

Well Hi,my friends, don't get to excited, still haven't got a camera,so these photo's are courtesy of my beautiful friend Lyssy.

Well where do I start. Way back when Lyssy left the building to seek fortune & happiness in Melbourne, she asked if I would like to feature my Bushka gals on her upcoming range of gift ware on lyssymay.com

Of course I said yes

After she left in a hurry and a flurry on a Melbourne bound removal truck (we won't mention to much of that diaster day) She was back in Brissy for her official goodbye drinks with the girls.

Was all in good timing, cause it meant the Bushka gals took VIP with her back to Melbourne.

As long as they weren't in her suitcase, cause ya never know where that may end up;) (Alyssa's Brissy bound suitcase ended up in Ipswich that weekend)

But got the call that they all arrived home safely and Lyssy is gearing up to start placing giftware on her website http://www.lyssymay.com/ so be sure to stop by if you are looking for a unique gift, just in time for xmas

Hopefully be back soon

xo Shannon

Up-Cycling Noah's ark

Today I have finally finished my easy, breezy summer dress/smock top prototype, that I did start on the weekend, but was rudely interrupted by other "stuff"

This is first of many to come from this range. Made from vintage tablecloths, tea towels and curtains, like this one I have up-cycled from an awesome "vintage" curtain. I say vintage as I think 80's can just about class as vintage.

They are easy to adjust with a simple ribbon on the side to tie.

It can be worn as a dress from the age of 1-3 or as a smock top from 3 +

Stay tuned......

A Day at the EKKA

On Thursday we took the opportunity of Ocearna playing in the school band at the Ekka and made a day of it at the famous annual Brisbane show.
The day started early with some excited lil' girly's awake by 6am.

It followed by a brisk, cold walk to the train station.

We spotted a lou lou on the train
Then Finlay soon had daddy playin tick tack toe.Bout an hour later we arrived, we raced straight to where Ocearna was to preform,
God love the school band but those kids were there for one thing, Rides and showbags. Ok two things

But first things first the free stuff. Well we did have to get the most out of the free stuff, we were in for a long day if we were going to stay for the fireworks.

First stop was the baby animals and the milking sheds.

After all the animals and a bite to eat, next 'THING TO DO' chair lift to sideshow alley(rides)

First ride was the dodgem cars, never liked this ride as a kid much and still don't . Who in their right mind puts their hand up for a bit of whip lash!

Then Finlay was up for some games.

The girls love rock climbing and it was free even better. And they got a free show bag after it.Ocearna and Ursula made the top, but lil' Fini didn't, but she did give it a good go!

It was now approaching dark and we still had to do the show bag pavilion, lots of goodies here...

One last trip to sideshow alley to use up the rest of their funds on afew more rides and time to catch the train home...brrrrhhh!!

A great day was had by all
