Eco Fashion Workshops

One of my favourite past times is OP shopping. It goes way back, maybe beyond some more, when my mum introduced me to the old Paddy's market at the Wool Sheds in New Farm, which are now Apartments.
Wow what a treasure trove of vintage clothing that was...
Being held at the Brisbane Square Library on Sat 4th April 12:30-1:30
and Sunday, 5 April at Indooroopilly Library 11am - 12 noon

Dress historian Margot Riley presents a fashion workshop showing you how to create your own fabulous vintage wardrobe and explaining the trend of wardrobe remixing.

Margot will also talk about the environmental benefits of vintage, retro and second-hand fashion. She will explain the environmental cost of producing modern textiles and what terms like Organic, Fair Trade and Eco-friendly actually mean.

Also while I'm on the subject of vintage wardrobe, this weekend, The Brisbane Vintage Fashion Fair will be on at Mt Gravatt Showground Community Hall. This year they have extended the show also to the new pavilion

Ginger

I had a visit from Ginger today.
I was happy to see her wearing her little my girl singlet
This is the mini version of the Old World Charm order that I did this month for Kathy.
Gingers mummy Gretchen bought it at The Straddie Markets at Christmas. She thought it would suit her complexion, think she was right.
She reminded me how hard it is for little kids to pose for a photo
Still very cute!!

A sigh of relief

Vintage tablecloth applique singlet

Always happy to finish an order, some more than others
This was an order I had from the Stradbroke markets for Cathy.
She has been very patient as have I as things were going wrong round every corner.
Things I have learnt on this journey:
The exchange rate on craft orders from America
Double check stock at home before ordering from America
BUY AUSTRALIAN
Wash new singlets before dying
Don't procrastinate
DO IT!
The order is being mailed out today, what a relief
I did question myself(again) why I do what I do,CREATE,
and kept coming back to the word PASSION.
In the end I am happy with the end product,I hope Cathy is too!

Spats to die for

Not so appropriate for Queensland weather. But something visual for all those romantic types
Check em' out on etsy

In my spare time

Between cleaning houses, not mine,HUH! and everyday running of a house of five
I have managed to get some sewing done.
Unfortunately I wasn't organised enough to make The Young Designer Market at Southbank this Sunday. But vow to be at the next one in June.
This creation was a special order for Alyssa from Lyssymay. Alyssa requested 2M of bunting to feature in her large arch window in her new studio in Melbourne.
Orange, browns & greens where on the menu, think I achieved that quite well with my stash of retro fabrics.
Such 70's colours

I have also been getting vintage scarf dresses and vintage trinket singlets done to replenish Raggedy Anne stock
